Shocking story narrated by film maker Harshad Mehta in a leading newspaper like Times of India on 7th October 09 should open the eyes of the Maharashtra government. Raj Thakre humiliated North Indians in the name of Marathi Manoos. He and his gangsters beat Bihari boys in the name of Marathi manoos and the local administration remain silent spectator, his men threaten film maker Karan Johar only because he used Bombai instead of Mumbai, his gang men create havoc on Valentine Day and what not, all havocs created by Raj are bakwas and bakwas only. Raj Thakre never feel that he is guilty because he has got of even police forces, of course not openly His dadagiri is patronized indirectly by many political or social stalwarts in fear of loosing Marathi votes.

Difference is that Raj Thakre is telling openly North Indians or Biharis to go out. Other parties like Shiv Sena or Congress Party or BJP are crying on the same line but in disguise to puncture the dirty driving force applied by Raj Thakre to motivate Marathis to vote for his party MNS. Political leaders in general do not have important issues like price rise, law and order problem, terrorism and condemnable and monstrous dadagiri in the preferred and prioritized agenda. Communal agenda in some colour or the other is the main weapon of all political parties in the electoral battle. Politicians take it easy to strike at the sentiments of voters and commit Emotional Atyachar.

This is why government also think it wise to maintain silence on the condemnable acts of rapist Raj Thakre and ultimately it helps Raj thakre treating himself elevated and his dirty behavior gets irrigated and promoted. It is worthwhile to mention here that despite defeat in last election held for Parliament neither his party nor Shiv Sena or BJP has understood that common men is bothered of price rise and not at all about Raj’s talk on Marathi manoos.

It is also true that he is managing to win a few seats in the assembly and few seats in the Parliament in the electoral battle under the banner of Indian democracy. It shows that voters also support him in some areas. In our country even mad person like Lalu Yadav became Hero in Bihar by votes of common mass, Rabri Devi who was not expert even in kitchen , not to speak or even dream of politics could become Chief Minister of Bihar. It will not therefore be shocking that crooked person like Raj Thakre also becomes CM someday.

Until we worship Indian type democracy we have to tolerate person like Raj Thakre.Central government headed by Doctor Manmohan Singh also make lame excuses all the time and ignores the Dadagiri of Raj thakre on one plea or the other. They are all afraid of illiterate and innocent voters who are swayed away by hypnotizers like Raj.

Lalu like joker ruled the state of Bihar for two decades and he became management guru for many world reputed Management schools only because talented person and effective leader cannot enter into state assembly or Central Parliament. And as long as we do not change the basic structure of electoral system, as long as we do not understand the difference between real secular and pseudo secular parties and as long as we do not punish severely and swiftly person who rape democracy in the name of democracy we cannot imagine get rid of rapist like Raj. We have to strive hard and to sacrifice a lot to come out of illusion that we live in free India adorned with attractive ornaments of democracy and secularism. In our country hypnotizers play dominant role, those who can deliver lecture to lure the voters manage to get success in election and talented and powerful person gets defeated.

I have heard that iron cuts iron. A mad man can control another mad man. I hope person like Lalu Yadav can only bell the cat like Raj.Otherwise we have to bear with Raj. In the state of Maharashtra, Bal Thakre is playing this role, Rah and Bal Thakre are two sides of the same coin. Fortunate vote split may dilute the intensity of Raj and his party MNS.

Last but not the least, the powerful weapon of votes lies in the hands of voters who can punish Raj Thakre and his party MNS. I hope in the forthcoming election Raj Thakre will be eliminated to a great extent and due to his suicidal strategy, his mentor party like Shiv Sena will be cut to size. Due to vote split a good party like BJP may also loose to some extent and Congress NCP alliance will gain the maximum. This is another fun of democracy or a cruel joke on the alter of democracy that person like Raj Thakre gets defeated not directly by voters but indirectly by dint of split of voters.

In Democracy, you go nowhere just by blaming voters - be it Maharashtra, Bihar or UP.... Infact, learn to respect public opinion and address it. If you think all those who vote for a person you dont like are innocent and illiterate, you are not yet ready for democracy. Your criticism should rather be directed towards those who sit at home and have a vacation on voting day and only come out with candles when badly hurt.

There is a reason why both national parties, Cong and BJP are being sidelined and people are going for local parties. Unless, we understand and change policies accordingly, we will only be cursing voters for decades to come. After Nehru's flawed centralized management, people started yearning for local issues. BJP rightly understands and implements and encourages decentralized administration.That is the right way to go! -- Unfortunately, many BJP supporters I've come across are not ready for it. Also, support and respect for local cultures and languages is also important -- which is again scantly seen in few areas. Next time, people ridicule a tamilian's hindi or the lungi (I'm not a tamilian btw), make sure, you counter them with the same amount of emotion. Next time, you hear someone calling north-east folks a chinki, do the same. Try to implement 3-language system in these states to learn to respect other languages. Haryana was supposed to learn Telugu under 3-lang. system, Tell me how many haryanvi's know telugu ?

The issue of Raj Thackeray's goondaism wouldn't have arisen if the migration from UP and Bihar wouldn't have been at such a large scale. There wouldnt have been support at grassroot levels had that migration not impacted the daily lives of local people. Ofcourse, goondaism must be stopped by strong police measures.
The way to destroy Raj Thackarey is to acquire the grassroot workers of MNS. Cursing and fighting against them is of no use - He would only gain in importance. This election will tell us if Shiv Sena's votes are being further eaten away by Raj or wht the future is going to be. Secondly, remember that, the demographics of Mumbai has changed significantly after heavy influx from UP and Bihar. BJP will not get those votes because of Shiv-Sena and at the same time, the strong marathi manoos votes are increasingly going to MNS. The best way to destroy MNS is to encourage defections from MNS by hook or crook.

We all must think why at all we saw the rise of Bal thackrey and then the savage outbursts of raj thackrey, it was not before 70's. For last 30-40 years the hindi movies made by unIndian\ angloIndian english speaking blokes tempted the public in hindi belt of UP, Bihar, MP etc to move for green (or greener) pastures. Most of them were helpless jobless villagers and some of them came out to be Haji mastans, salems, Dawoods (the Azamgarh series!)who ransacked the local Marathi or cosmopolitan Bombay culture. An calm ancient port which believed in hard work to cherish the tag of Indian economic capital was coaxed to face advent of 'Bhais', extortions, murder and loots. Of course, lay people uneducated and unskilled found it easy to loot hard working locals after being frustrating being around them.

Now, how you want one to practise non violence of Gandhi or democratic rights to go any where and do anything subserved by the constitution? Don't the migrants from UP\bihar who have sabotaged the life and face of a vibrant and clean city (before 70's!) have onus to be answerable? Why not a whole big twin state (now divided off course) has to own up responsibility for all mayhem they have created here by not rectifying flaws at their own home? Why a population of over 30+ crore (UP, Bih, CG, JHK) cannot sustain its own workforce? Why these states who have only produce of politicians who attack Raj thackrey instead of weighing the burden of totally useless UPites and Biharis because of their own misdoings? The northies who only survive being loud and brash when they are in fact, let me declare totally worthless as compared to southies who unfortunately have to be behind main stage inspite of being more educated, decent and cultured. And I can repeat this myself being one hardcore in centre Northy.

The acts of Raj thackrey might look very irritating. Even I have first hand count of the contempt of a typical marathi. But still I can recount how a very gifted (geographical heaven- you can find every structure in Bombay an around) place has been converted to a hell courtesy the migrants. The active ignorance of the politicians has brought this chaos who think that every thing should either be in Bombay or Delhi. The urban environ is transforming into dirty dungeons and more are incited and trapped every day, still.

We all know why a UPite or Bihari has to move to Bombay, even southies too move and so come the gujratis in Bombay. Why so many of us keep running to fill their stomachs? We have a huge population. We keep consoling ourself, we keep denying it even when we face it at every juncture. This is certainly havoc and and still every day we want to cover our faces. Still we find a Raj or some thing else when we know that it is origin of almost all our problems.

Raj thackrey and any marathi is very proud of marathi and maharashtra, a bengali is poud of bengali and bengal, a punjabi is too proud of Punjab but NO ONE IS PROUD OF INDIA. ANS THAT IS DANGEROUS. This small land (yes its not huge as USSR or US) keeps on procreating divisions and all of its proponents keep magnifying the chasm.

A broken chain can ditch anytime.

A migrant when comes in a new land it has less restraint, less moral and religious responsibility and its more barbarian when the population is illiterate and desperate! Why we havent yet been in a stance to denounce the mess created by over congestion in our cities? Why the americans can see Bombay through slumdog millionaire and still we only portray a "maya nagri" or dream city when this term is far from reality?

But yes, we also must explore the heck of politics in supporting Raj tackrey behind the scene by Congress and NCP. We don'y have only Raj thackrey, we also have hindi-slaying assam, manipur or TN. WE have to root out both evils. I don't know and I don't ask what BJP has to say on this.

Migration of Labours is driven by economic requirements. The solution is very simple if Congress wants it. Just move few of the companies which are not dependent on Sea Harbour to U.P Bihar,Haryana and the Migrant Labours will also migrate.
e.g why should Toothpaste or slipper factory should be in Maharashtra when its biggest consumer are U.P and Bihar. Why shouldn't be Headquarters of many Companies and Government Organizations should be shifted from Bombay.
Why shouldn't government make a mandatory putting Agriculture Labour Days rule for labourers who want to avail NREGA facilities. Government will never do it because Congress thrives on confusions and conflicts.

Thats why I keep telling that BJP should learn from Congress which is a cunning Political force. See Congress got Bhaiyas thrashed by Raj Thakrey in Bombay and then made a Bhaiya leader Kripa Shanker Singh as Mumbai chief. So it got votes of both Bhaiyas in Mumbai and Bhaiyas in Uttar Pradesh. can anybody else carry out this magic.

Why do Migrant Labourers need a migrant Leader like Kripa Shanker Singh. Why can't Udhav Thakrey or Vilas Rao Deshmukh be leader of all. But Congress has to create this conflict as it has to appear as the balancing force.

Congress uses all the potential "Vibhishans" of its foes. So if it uses Brajesh Mishra,Jaswant Singh,Yashwant Sinha against BJP then same way it uses Raj Thakrey against Shiv Sena. But no EX-Congressi will act as Vibhishan because they know what all harm Congress can do to him.

See how smart Congress is. It is turning entire election of Maharshtra into Raj Thakrey versus Udhav Thakrey and cleverly making people forget its own failures and making Maharashtra more backwards in last 10 years. Last 5 years Marathi Ministers dominated in Uninion Ministery but still Maharshtra became more backward. Congress wants to avoide those discussions.

Obviously for gullible Marathi people either Caste will matter in which case they will go for NCP-Congress or Raj Thakrey's rogue charm will matter. So Shiv Sena BJP are really in tight situation in Maharshtra.

But not much could have been done just in 4 months after LokSabha elections. But BJP should respect and learn to counter the political tricks of Congress,if it wants to survive in long run.

Good post randheer ji... congress is already getting a positive image reinforcement with the pretty boy rahul and others doing the quiet campaign visiting dalit bastis (though claiming that he doesn't see them as dalit) while the two U&R thackereys are fighting like crazy monkeys for votes... guess who is going to get votes. Why is uddhav focused on raj... the man should be sidelined from the majority of the political space... he should be a fringe politician at best. I haven't seen much of the campaign here, (all I saw was congis campaigning), hope the BJP is working on its own and not relying on one of the two monkeys to deliver the results.

The other issues raised here are really not worth addressing as it is only going to raise a hell of a debate and no solution.
